The Ministry of Settlement and National Missions announced today (Sunday) the allocation of 111 million shekels for an initial response to the rehabilitation of rural communities in the north. This is part of a total budget of 200 million shekels approved by the government. The initiative aims to restore public infrastructure in 41 rural border communities and prepare them for the return of residents to their homes.

Minister Orit Strook, whose ministry is spearheading the initiative, emphasized that rehabilitation efforts will begin with public infrastructure. “In the first phase, we will restore and prepare public buildings and spaces to provide residents with everything they need to function in the public sphere,” she said. Strook also noted that efforts to strengthen the communal resilience of evacuated residents will continue. “Our goal is not only to restore these communities but also to ensure their flourishing and empowerment,” she added.

It is noteworthy that the initiative is being led by the Ministry of Settlement in collaboration with the “Momentum for the North” Directorate, under the leadership of Minister Ze’ev Elkin. Additionally, the Ministry of the Negev, Galilee, and National Resilience will oversee the rehabilitation of urban communities in the north with a dedicated budget of 89 million shekels.
