After the long-range attack against military infrastructure in Yemen that was named “Long Arm”, the Aerospace Industry unveiled the “WIND DEMON” this morning (Tuesday), a light cruise missile, the first of its kind in the world, developed in Israel. It is an air-to-ground cruise missile, which is launched from airborne platforms (such as a helicopter or airplane) and can hit mobile and stationary targets.

The missile weighing 140 kg is equipped with an electro-optic homing warhead weighing more than 20 kilos, can reach a distance of 200 km, and is characterized by high survivability, accuracy and lethality. The “goblin” provides an answer to the needs of today’s warfare by enabling a precise attack, from a distance and at a long range, and all this at a relatively low cost. This missile is fired according to a predetermined mission plan without the need for operator intervention and has a counter launch capability that allows the launching platform to avoid threats.

Avi Elisha, manager of the Missile Plant at Israel Aerospace Industries, said: “The Air Elf is based on the advanced capabilities of Israel Aerospace Industries in the field of missiles. We see an increase in the demand for efficient and inexpensive systems that enable long-term combat. The Air Elf provides a precise answer to this need in that the missile offers many capabilities at a relatively low cost in a way that allows our customers to purchase the system in relatively large quantities, thereby giving them the opportunity to fight for a long time.”

The unveiling of the missile after the remote and powerful attack on Yemen soil sends an unequivocal message to Iran and its other axis countries, that Israel possesses lethal technology capable of hitting distant targets at minimal cost and minimizing the need to use aircraft.
