An increase in the chances of Biden’s retirement

President Biden has tested positive for Covid - just a day after hinting that a health condition would be the only factor that would convince him to withdraw from the race.

In recent weeks, the pressure on the incumbent president, Joe Biden, to withdraw his candidacy from the upcoming presidential elections has been increasing. These pressures stem mainly from within, from within the Democratic Party – and from the fear of party activists that Biden will cause them to lose the elections. The significant concern arose after Biden’s weak performance in the presidential showdown against Donald Trump that took place three weeks ago, during which he appeared tired, weak and disconnected. Other events that have taken place in recent weeks, in which Biden has shown confusion about names, have added to the fear and pressure in the party.

So far, Biden has refused to discuss retirement, arguing that it will only cause damage in the run-up to the election and desertion of many voters. Biden even claimed in a press interview that he would only retire if ‘God Himself’ calls for his retirement. However, in the last few days, different winds began to blow from Biden’s direction, and this after a successful week from Trump’s point of view (rescue from an assassination attempt, official selection for his party’s nomination, and an increase in the polls) – and the president said for the first time that given his health, Biden may agree to withdraw from the race.

Now, coincidentally (or not coincidentally), it has been announced that President Biden has tested positive for Covid. Biden claimed that he feels well, and will go into isolation to avoid infection and continue working; However, there is a good chance that this is a convenient opening for the announcement of imminent retirement. Right now this is speculation, but the expectation is that the pressure on Biden will increase as time goes on. Whichever path Biden chooses, we can only wish him a full recovery.
