A building in the Dahiya district of Beirut was attacked today (Thursday), resulting in the elimination of Muhammad Hussein Sarour, the commander of Hezbollah’s air unit, according to recent reports from Lebanon.

The strike was highly targeted, aimed at a specific floor in a high-rise building where the senior commander was located.

An IDF spokesperson confirmed: “Based on precise intelligence from the Air Force and Intelligence Directorate, fighter jets attacked in Beirut and eliminated Muhammad Hussein Sarour, the commander of Hezbollah’s air unit.”

“The terrorist Sarour advanced, directed, and commanded numerous aerial terror operations, including drone, cruise missile, and UAV attacks aimed at Israel’s rear.”

“In recent years, Sarour was a key figure in Hezbollah’s UAV production projects in Lebanon. He established sites for the production of explosive and reconnaissance UAVs, some of which were hidden beneath civilian structures in Beirut and other areas of Lebanon.”

“Sarour joined Hezbollah in the 1980s and held various positions, including commander in the surface-to-air missile unit, the ‘Aziz’ unit in the Radwan force, and served as Hezbollah’s envoy to Yemen concerning the Houthi terror regime’s air force.”

“During the ‘Operation Iron Swords’ war, he spearheaded and executed numerous UAV terror plots, including drones and explosive devices aimed at Israel’s rear and IDF forces.”

Significant Intelligence Achievements
Today’s strike is part of a series of eliminations and attacks across Lebanon, including within Beirut itself, Hezbollah’s stronghold. This week alone, there were three reported assassination attempts, two of which were successful, targeting senior Hezbollah officials. Among those killed were Ibrahim Kabisi, head of the missile division, and Ibrahim Aqil, commander of the Radwan force. Another Hezbollah leader, Ali Karaki, was injured in an attack.

These strikes, along with last week’s “Beepers Operation,” highlight Israel’s high-level intelligence capabilities, which are translating into successful operations on the ground.

Additionally, Israel has been striking residential areas storing weaponry. Since the Second Lebanon War, Hezbollah has tried to establish a vast missile and rocket network across a wide area, intending to make it difficult for Israel to destroy these weapons. However, Israeli intelligence uncovered the plan and has been targeting missile stockpiles over the past week.
