Yesterday (Saturday), around 2:00 PM, police forces from the Shai District deployed to safeguard public security at the Ofra Junction identified a speeding Palestinian vehicle aiming to strike police officers. The vehicle crashed into a police patrol car and an armored police vehicle. The terrorist, a 27-year-old resident of the Nablus area driving alone, was killed in the collision. A police officer had exited the vehicle just moments before the attack.

The officers on-site responded swiftly and professionally, preventing harm to themselves and civilians. Additionally, numerous forces from the Shai District units, including police officers, Yasam combat troops, and IDF forces, arrived at the scene promptly. Shai District traffic police worked to reopen Route 60 at the Ofra Junction intermittently in both directions while ensuring the safety of those traveling.

Shai District Commander, Chief Superintendent Moshe Finchi, emphasized during a briefing to the district command staff: “This was an attack that, fortunately, ended with no fatalities or injuries. The terrorist died in the collision; we will learn from this event and draw conclusions. A terrorist who does not encounter officers or soldiers on the roads will encounter civilians, and it is our role to increase inspections and vigilance to protect the citizens living here.”

In light of the event, the police emphasize the importance of increased inspections and vigilance to safeguard the public. Meanwhile, security forces continue heightened operations in the area to prevent further attacks. The public is asked to follow the instructions of police officers and security forces to ensure their safety.
