Slovakia has finalized the purchase of an Israeli system that will enhance its defensive capabilities. Maj. Gen. (res.) Eyal Zamir signed the agreement this morning (Monday) at the Kirya in Tel Aviv. This deal marks the largest export from Israel to Slovakia to date and strengthens ties between the two nations.
The “Barak MX” is a multi-mission Israeli air defense system designed to protect against aircraft and missiles. It is an exclusive development by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and includes radar capable of detecting a range of threats, classifying them, and executing intercepts.

The operational success of the Israeli air defense system, both in Israel and other countries, has demonstrated its reliability and high efficiency in addressing threats from various sources.

On August 1, 2024, a successful test was completed with an interceptor launched from the Sa’ar 6-class corvette INS Independence. These days, as the IDF faces a variety of aerial threats from multiple arenas, both near and far, the system’s performance has strengthened the Navy’s capabilities in achieving maritime and aerial superiority.
At the signing ceremony, Maj. Gen. Zamir stated: “The expansion of Israeli defense exports during wartime is a direct continuation of the achievements of Israeli technologies on the battlefield. Defense exports are a central component of our security and economic resilience. They enable us to continue developing the next generations of the world’s most advanced combat systems.” He concluded by expressing confidence that additional NATO countries will follow the example of those already purchasing Israeli defense systems.
