As reported earlier today (Thursday), Israel responded forcefully to the Houthi missile launches toward the country. Dozens of Israeli Air Force fighter jets targeted Houthi-controlled terror targets under the guidance of the Intelligence Directorate and through plans approved by the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Defense, and the Prime Minister. Among the targets attacked were military infrastructure at Sanaa International Airport and key power stations used by the Houthis for military operations and to support their regime.
Hitting civilian infrastructure for terror purposes
Among the targets were facilities used by the Houthi terror regime for military activities, including Sanaa International Airport and power stations at Aziz and Ras Kantib, which form the central electricity infrastructure for the Houthi rule. Additionally, infrastructure in the ports of Hudaydah, Al-Salif, and Ras Kantib along Yemen’s western coast was attacked. These facilities were utilized by the Houthi regime to transfer Iranian weapons to the region and for other purposes, such as enabling Iranian officials’ visits to the area. According to the IDF Spokesperson, “The targets attacked illustrate the Houthi terror regime’s military use of civilian infrastructure for terror purposes.”
Prime Minister Netanyahu, who monitored the strike targets from the Air Force Command alongside Defense Minister Katz and Chief of Staff Halevi, said after the operation that symbolically, during the days of Hanukkah, “We are in a war of resurgence – the Maccabean generation of our time.” He stated that the Air Force attacked Houthi targets along the coastline and in Sanaa, Yemen. “We are determined to cut off this arm of terror from Iran’s axis of evil. We will persist until the mission is complete,” Netanyahu emphasized.
