Early Wednesday morning, officers from the Lod station of the Israel Police revealed a dangerous stockpile of weapons that had leaked into criminal gangs within the Arab sector. This targeted operation, part of the “Emergency Halt” initiative, was aimed at restoring governance and enhancing the security of the city’s residents.

During the early morning operation, Lod police officers, in cooperation with Border Police forces and a K-9 unit, discovered a significant weapons cache in a caravan in the heart of the city. The caravan, shockingly, had been used as a children’s room. The seized items included:
– 23 explosive charges
– 5 fragmentation grenades
– A pistol, magazines, and ammunition hidden in socks
– Suspected drugs, including hashish and cocaine, weighing 1.15 kilograms
– Specialized burglary equipment

As part of the operation, two Lod residents in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of involvement in holding the weapons and drugs. They were transferred to the Central District’s investigation unit for further interrogation. The police plan to request an extension of their detention in court as the investigation progresses. All confiscated items were sent to Israel Police forensic labs for evidence analysis.

“An Exceptional Operational Achievement”

Central District Commander Commissioner Yair Hatzroni described the discovery as “an exceptional operational achievement.” He added: “We are addressing the troubling phenomenon of military-grade weapons leaking to criminal organizations, which could have had severe implications for both public safety and law enforcement.”

The police noted that the weapons haul was made possible through the efforts of a “special task force” established within the Central District to combat violent crime in the Arab community. The task force’s work, part of the “Emergency Halt” initiative, has already saved lives and prevented dozens of criminal attacks and murders.
