Chief of the General Staff: “We are at war, and an attack on a training base on the home front is difficult and the results are painful. You operated well to treat and evacuate the wounded and injured. Embrace the bereaved families, accompany the wounded and strengthen the commanders and soldiers.
We continue to operate and train for what is ahead. The Golani Brigade recorded many achievements in the war and dealt resolutely with difficult situations—continue on the path of this legacy.”
The army is investigating the attack to learn from what happened and why no sirens were sounded to alert the soldiers to go to the shelters on the base. The base is relatively new and has sufficient shelters for the soldiers. These hostile drones are very difficult to prevent from attacking because they are small, low flying and their course is unpredictable. There were two drones that attacked Israel at the same time; one was taken down by the IDF. The other one was presumed to have fallen without causing damage, however it attacked the IDF base over 60 km from the point at which it was launched.
