The IDF spokesperson permitted publication this morning (Thursday) that Captain (Res.) Amit Levy, from Shumeria, a squad commander in the 6551 Reconnaissance Battalion, 551 Fire Formation, fell in battle in the central Gaza Strip.
From Kibbutz Shomera, it was announced: “Blessed be the true judge. With great sorrow, we announce the fall of our beloved friend Captain Amit Levy, may his memory be a blessing, who fell in battle in Gaza. Details regarding the funeral and the mourning period will be provided later. We embrace Chen and the children, Tzur, Noa, Jonathan, and Zohar.”

IDF forces in the Gaza Division have destroyed two offensive tunnels measuring two kilometers in length in southern and central Gaza over the past weeks. In doing so, the forces completed a focused operation to eliminate terrorist infrastructures and tunnels in southern and central Gaza.
Destruction of Offensive Tunnels and Neutralization of Militants: The IDF Continues Operations in Gaza
During the operations of the Southern Brigade in the Division, the engineering unit of the Gaza Division, in cooperation with fighters from the Yahalom unit, uncovered and destroyed two underground offensive routes each measuring two kilometers. In these intricate routes, which had multiple exit shafts, some of which were booby-trapped, the forces located numerous weapons. During the strikes, a militant cell attempting to plant an explosive device was neutralized, and anti-tank positions and terrorist infrastructures that posed a threat to the forces were destroyed.
