An IDF review determined that Hezbollah misfired a rocket hit the UNIFIL post. The rocket was fired from the area of Deir Aames, one of many fired by Hezbollah in a barrage launched at Israel at 09:50 this morning.
Similar situations have occurred in Gaza. Over the past year, Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza have launched thousands of rockets toward Israel. A significant portion of these rockets have misfired, landing within the Gaza Strip itself. Estimates indicate that approximately 10% to 20% of these rockets fail to reach their intended targets, resulting in damage and casualties within Gaza.
These misfires have had tragic consequences for Gaza’s civilian population, causing deaths, injuries, and property damage which is often blamed on Israel. One case that received a lot of media attention was the explosion at the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza on October 17th, 2023 that was later proved to have been the result of a rocket fired by Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
