This morning (Wednesday), a barrage of about 40 rockets was launched towards the city of Safed. The Iron Dome system intercepted some of the rockets, but a direct hit was reported on a sheltered housing facility in the city. Despite the damage to the building, no casualties were reported.

Later in the day, alarms were activated in additional areas, including Zikhron Yaakov and Haifa. The IDF reported intercepting several rockets that crossed from Lebanon. Additionally, an unmanned aerial vehicle that entered from Syria was intercepted south of the Sea of Galilee.

In response, the IDF launched a widespread offensive in southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley. Fighter jets struck various targets, including what were described as Hezbollah arms depots. The IDF spokesperson stated that the strikes were precise and hit planned targets.

Despite the tension, Israeli authorities tried to maintain a sense of normalcy. In Zikhron Yaakov, for example, it was decided to continue classes as usual despite the alarms.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the rocket fire, stating that it launched a ballistic missile towards what it described as a “Mossad headquarters.” Israel did not confirm this claim.

While both sides continue exchanging fire, the international community is calling for restraint and a diplomatic solution to the escalating tension.
