Call for Hungary to Support Trump’s Houthi Declaration
Regarding the fight against the Houthis, Sa’ar highlighted the group’s threat to Red Sea navigation, which disrupts international trade and global stability. He urged the Hungarian government to follow former U.S. President Trump’s recent decision to re-designate the Houthis as a terrorist organization, thus enabling international sanctions.
Sa’ar expressed gratitude to Szijjártó for Hungary’s steadfast and consistent support of Israel.
Sa’ar Condemns ICC as Anti-Semitic Attempt to Undermine Israel
Following their meeting, the two ministers issued a joint statement. Sa’ar praised Hungary’s support for Israel on the international stage: “Hungary, under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s leadership, is a close friend and vital ally of Israel. This partnership represents two proud, sovereign, free, and independent nations. I deeply value Hungary’s significant support in international arenas, especially within the European Union and the United Nations.”
Sa’ar harshly criticized the ICC, accusing it of violating legal and moral principles: “This is an anti-Semitic attempt to undermine the Jewish state’s ability to defend its citizens through legal warfare in so-called ‘international judicial institutions.’ The International Criminal Court in The Hague is both political and corrupt. Its actions cause significant harm to international law. It is unprecedented for the ICC to target a democratic state fighting terrorism and operating in accordance with international law and the rule of law.”

“The ICC Has Compromised Its Own Credibility”
Sa’ar continued: “The ICC has significantly damaged its credibility. The court in The Hague has chosen to attack Israel’s right to self-defense, even though Israel is the most threatened and attacked nation in the world. This is not only a legal distortion but also a moral one.” He took the opportunity to thank Hungary for standing by Israel: “We appreciate your support against the ICC’s arrest warrants and for inviting Prime Minister Netanyahu to Hungary.”
Sa’ar also referenced U.S. legislation against the ICC, adding: “The U.S. House of Representatives has passed critical legislation, and I commend President Trump for his executive order against the ICC. This sends a clear and decisive message: We will not allow harm to the democratic state fighting for its citizens’ lives and its right to self-defense.”
