Israeli Police Raid the Home of the Terrorist Following the Stabbing Attack at Damascus Gate

Following the stabbing attack at Damascus Gate on Sunday, police and Border Police forces conducted a search at the terrorist's home in Ar'ara in the Negev, arresting and detaining family members for questioning. Evidence and findings were collected for further investigation by the Shin Bet and the police. The southern district commander ordered an increase in police activity in the area.

Following the stabbing attack that occurred Sunday at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem, forces from the southern district police and Border Police raided the home of the terrorist in Ar’ara in the Negev last night. The operation, conducted under the direction of Southern District Commander Chief Superintendent Amir Cohen and with guidance from the Shin Bet, included a comprehensive search of the terrorist’s home, evidence collection, and the arrest of 10 family members for questioning.

Shortly after the stabbing at Damascus Gate, the terrorist was identified as a resident of Ar’ara in the Negev. Upon receiving this information, Southern District Commander Chief Superintendent Amir Cohen immediately ordered a raid on the terrorist’s home to collect evidence and investigate anyone who may have been involved in the attack.

During the night, forces from the southern district police and Border Police, guided by the Shin Bet, conducted a swift search of the terrorist’s home. Computers, documents, objects, and additional findings were collected during the search. In addition, ten men and women from the terrorist’s family were taken for questioning.

All materials collected will be transferred for further investigation by the police and the General Security Service (Shin Bet). The goal of the operation is to gather essential information and ensure that justice is served against anyone involved in the terror attack.

The southern district commander praised the quick response of the officers and commanders, and instructed to increase police operational activity in the southern district and in various police sectors. This is aimed at maintaining security and order, preventing further incidents, and ensuring a rapid and effective response to any unusual events.

The operation was documented, including the search and arrests, with explanations provided by Acting Commander of Ar’ara Station, Chief Superintendent Yosef Asanfi, and Negev Subdistrict Commander Chief Superintendent Avi Levy, who led the operation.

The Israeli police continue to act decisively against terrorism and its supporters, in close cooperation with all security agencies, to ensure the safety of Israeli citizens.
