Lehem Ha’aretz exercise in Haifa: “There is no shortage of food and there is no need to buy more than what is required”

The Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, Amnon Merhav, today (Wednesday) held an exercise in Haifa that simulates an emergency situation with the distribution of food packages to the besieged citizens. According to him, "We are ready to act quickly. There is no shortage of food and there is no need to buy more than what is required."

In the shadow of tensions in the northern sector, the launches of UAVs and threats from Nasrallah, today (Wednesday) the “Bread of the Land” exercise took place in Haifa, initiated by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Industry and led by the Ministry’s Director General, Amnon Merhav. The exercise focused on opening emergency food packages, and was attended by representatives of the ministry’s emergency administration, the Home Front Command, the National Emergency Directorate and the Haifa Municipality. In addition, the team visited Razel branches and held an online meeting with food pantry managers and local authorities, in order to raise the level of security and preparedness of the authorities in food supply.

The Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, Amnon Merhav, emphasized that: “The Ministry of Economy and Industry has completed the process of preparing tens of thousands of food packages, for the purpose of distributing them to the extent necessary, to citizens who will not be able to go out to stock up on supermarkets. Today we also checked the way the packages are transported to the distribution centers that will be distributed to citizens.”

The packages include a wide variety of products, such as crackers, couscous, raw tahini, corn, peas, beans, bread, fortified milk, baby food, fati-bar, black coffee, tea, hot dishes, sugar, halvah, quacker, various preserves, dates and tuna, and there are also packages with gluten-free food.
