Despite the excitement, Mount Hermon remains closed to the public, designated as a restricted military zone.

Military Preparedness for Extreme Weather
Two weeks ago, the IDF began preparing for the extreme weather to ensure the continuity of operational activities in line with the conditions. Specialized military accommodations were set up in the region, providing climate-appropriate infrastructure.

More than 1,900 portable buildings and housing containers were deployed, equipped with heating, air conditioning, electrical systems, and connections to permanent or mobile power grids. Each site includes showers and heating facilities, meeting standards to provide optimal support for soldiers in the field.

Logistical Efforts for Troops on the Frontlines

Brigade Logistics Officer Maj. Metab Barakat commented:
“We’ve invested tremendous effort to deliver a comprehensive logistical framework for all soldiers, especially those on the frontlines. We work around the clock to ensure everyone receives the necessary supplies—from hot meals and operational equipment to specialized winter gear like snow sandals, winter boots, and storm suits. Our soldiers know we’re here for them in every detail, big or small.”

Flood Warnings in the Region
As heavy rain continues across Israel, police have issued warnings about the risks of flooding. The public is urged to avoid travel and activities in areas prone to floods, such as streams and low-lying regions, and to steer clear of water channels and flooded areas. Flood risks not only include the dangers of being swept away but also potential damage to vehicles and infrastructure.

Safety Guidelines for the Public
To ensure safety, adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Avoid unnecessary travel or visits to areas at risk of flooding, including streams and low-lying areas.
2. Do not cross flooded roads, large puddles, or water channels by any means of transport.
3. Refrain from entering underground parking areas during heavy rainfall.
4. Avoid swimming in the sea during storms due to the risk of drowning.
5. Secure objects on balconies or in gardens to prevent hazards from strong winds.

Safe Driving Tips
Rain increases the risk of skidding and makes braking more difficult. Drivers are advised to:

– Reduce speed and keep headlights on throughout the journey.
– Maintain a greater distance from the vehicle ahead.
– Avoid driving into deep puddles and carefully assess road conditions.
– Ensure tires and wipers are in good condition before traveling.

The winter weather at Mount Hermon and across Israel offers breathtaking scenery, but it also demands caution and preparation to ensure everyone’s safety.
