In a groundbreaking step combining technology and social responsibility, Wolt and Magen David Adom are introducing a revolutionary collaboration. This new initiative will transform Wolt couriers, known for their blue delivery bags, into a first-responder emergency network across the country. Over 1,000 couriers will be trained in first aid, equipped with appropriate kits, and ready to provide life-saving assistance at any given moment.

The idea behind the initiative stems from the significant presence of Wolt couriers in the public space. With a fleet of around 20,000 couriers across Israel, Wolt sees a unique opportunity to turn its workers into a valuable auxiliary force in medical emergencies.

Elia Yossefian, COO of Wolt Israel, explains: “We understand that this presence can mean much more than just earning a living – it’s an opportunity to save lives.” Yossefian highlights the impressive response from couriers to the program, reinforcing the desire to expand the project in the future.

The training, provided by MDA instructors, covers a range of critical skills such as performing CPR, treating injuries, stopping bleeding, and providing assistance in various emergency situations. Upon completion, couriers will be equipped with professional first aid kits.

Another innovative aspect of the initiative is the integration of information into the Wolt app. Customers will be notified when their courier has completed MDA training, raising awareness and creating a more personal connection to the initiative.

Eli Bin, CEO of MDA, praised the initiative: “It’s very heartwarming to see a company that wants to maximize the positive impact of its presence in the public space.” He emphasized the importance of the training and equipment the couriers will receive, enabling them to provide initial care until an ambulance arrives.

This initiative reflects a growing trend of social responsibility among tech and delivery companies, demonstrating how the widespread presence of delivery services can be leveraged for the community’s benefit, beyond their core service.
