According to reports on the “Iran International” channel, a large-scale cyber attack hit the Iranian banking system today (Wednesday), including the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and several other banks. The attack led to widespread disruptions in banking activity in the country.
Sources associated with the opponents of the Iranian regime estimate that this may be one of the largest cyber attacks ever carried out against the infrastructure of the Islamic Republic. Although the identity of the attackers is not yet known, it is estimated that this attack could have significant consequences for the Iranian economy.
This incident is reminiscent of a previous cyber attack that occurred in 2023, which caused widespread disruptions at gas stations throughout Iran. In that case, a cyber group called “The Sparrow of Predator” took responsibility for the attack, which disabled about 70% of the gas stations in the country.
