The Syrian Television channel, based in Istanbul, reported today (Thursday) that shortly after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime to the rebels in Syria, IDF fighters received weapons from Druze recruited into the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the village of Khader. The village, populated by a Druze community, is located near the border region.
Operation “Arrow of Bashan”
Following the fall of Assad’s regime, the IDF swiftly operated in the buffer zone in Syria, launching “Operation Arrow of Bashan,” aimed at destroying Syria’s most advanced military capabilities out of concern that the rebels might use the weapons. With the help of hundreds of fighter jets and aircraft, the Air Force struck numerous strategic targets, including fighter jets and helicopters, various types of missiles (Scud, surface-to-surface, surface-to-air, shore-to-sea, and cruise missiles), drones, radars, rockets, and storage sites.

One of the key successes of the operation was the severe damage inflicted on Syria’s air defense network, which was considered one of the strongest in the Middle East. Over 90% of Syria’s strategic surface-to-air missiles were destroyed, enabling the Israeli Air Force to maintain aerial superiority in the region.

The swift actions of the IDF and Air Force highlight the strategic importance of the region and Israel’s commitment to maintaining its security dominance against any potential threat. Meanwhile, Navy Commander Major General David Saar Salama praised the fighters for their strikes carried out as part of “Operation Arrow of Bashan,” stating:
“Flotilla 3 has transformed, especially in its ability to contribute from the sea, but also in collaboration with the Air Force and intelligence, integrating into the broader IDF framework—something we have long aspired to. This demonstrates the capability to generate a combined battle involving the Air Force, intelligence, and even within the Navy itself,” he added.
