Division 98, which recently concluded intense operations in central Gaza, is now being transferred to the Northern Command. This move comes just a day after the beeper explosion operation in Lebanon, which has been attributed to Israel, and points to a broader preparation for a possible significant escalation on the northern front.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized in discussions with American officials that “the only way to safely return northern residents to their homes is through military action.” He also mentioned that the IDF has completed the training of all forces in preparation for a potential ground operation in Lebanon.

Before heading north, Division 98 completed important missions in Gaza, including the recovery of the bodies of six Israeli hostages. After a period of rest and re-equipping, the forces are now ready for their next mission in the north.

The Security Cabinet has added the safe return of northern residents to their homes as a key war objective. Israel is holding discussions on the possibility of expanding operations against Hezbollah, carefully considering the implications and the timing.

According to a report from Al-Monitor, the beeper explosion operation targeting Hezbollah operatives, which has been attributed to Israel, was originally planned to occur only during a full-scale war. However, the decision to execute it yesterday was made after Hezbollah operatives began suspecting an intelligence breach.

The relocation of Division 98 to the north marks a significant shift in Israel’s military strategy and reflects preparations for a potential conflict on the Lebanese front. As tensions continue to rise, Israel is preparing for a range of possible scenarios in the north.
