The “Sovev Ata” bus rapid transit line is intended to connect the older neighborhoods of Kiryat Ata with the new neighborhoods being established there, linking to the metropolitan bus rapid transit network in the Haifa and Krayot area, and in the future, also with the “Nofit” light rail from Haifa to Nazareth.

Today (Monday), the Ministry of Transportation, the “Cross-Israel” company, and the Kiryat Ata Municipality published a tender for the execution of the line that will allow residents to travel continuously and quickly without traffic congestion.

Construction has begun and is expected to be completed by 2025

The project includes 8.5 kilometers facilitating continuous and rapid travel and 16 passenger stations. Upon completion of the works, it will be possible to operate public transport lines with 30 to 40 buses per hour along the route. The line will include a two-lane and dual-course road, two public transport lanes for the bus rapid transit, and bike paths.

In addition, infrastructure and sidewalk renewal will be carried out, and a “Park and Ride” parking lot will be established near Bialik Square, with approximately 200 parking spaces.

“The Ministry of Transportation continues to connect Israel from north to south, between and within the metropolises,” said the Minister of Transportation, adding: “The Haifa bus rapid transit is a successful mass transit system that transports millions of passengers each year. Currently, we are extending it toward Tirat Carmel, and soon construction will begin on the Kiryat Ata line, which will provide a significant boost to the development of the city. At the same time, works are progressing to expand the light rail networks in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.”
