In anticipation of a possible return of northern residents to their homes, the IDF has decided to build the defense line in the area according to the strict line as a lesson from the Hamas terrorist organization’s attack on October 7, as reported this morning (Thursday) in Ma’ariv.
The IDF is taking into account Hezbollah’s attack plans that were known to the IDF before the war but gained renewed significance with the ground maneuver. Additionally, more than 85,000 items of loot from the Hezbollah terrorist organization were confiscated during the IDF’s operation in southern Lebanon, a number that does not include weaponry destroyed during the fighting.
Ma’ariv also reported that similar to the Gaza envelope, the IDF intends to establish a military outpost in front of each community for defense, which will include a significant fire system comprising mortars, rocket launchers, and machine guns. Each outpost will also have long-range observation capabilities.

In recent days, the IDF has begun complex engineering work, during which they started building a forward outpost near the Moshav Misgav Am. As part of the work, the IDF detonated a minefield in an area designated for the outpost. The area in question lies outside the border fence but is defined as Israeli territory. Additionally, rear defense systems have been established, including backup positions, designed to be used in the event of a breach of the forward defense systems during combat.
Weapons, Rocket Launchers, Anti-Tank, Anti-Aircraft, Observation Means, and Additional Weaponry
As part of the ground operation in Lebanon that began at the beginning of October, four maneuver divisions operated against Hezbollah forces in over 30 villages throughout southern Lebanon, identifying and destroying various terrorist infrastructures, neutralizing militants, and locating and confiscating numerous weapons.
Yesterday, it was permitted for publication that combat units, in cooperation with the loot evacuation unit in the Technology and Logistics Branch, confiscated, as mentioned, more than 85,000 items of loot, including: weapons, rocket launchers, anti-tank weapons, RPGs, explosives, shells, anti-aircraft missiles, observation means, military vehicles, and additional weaponry.
The IDF spokesperson stated: “As part of the learning process regarding the IDF’s achievements in the ground maneuver, a broad exhibition of the weaponry confiscated by IDF forces is currently being displayed. The confiscated weaponry was used by Hezbollah and intended to harm Israeli citizens, as part of the plan for the ‘Occupation of the Galilee.’ Following the ground maneuver, these capabilities were significantly impaired and are now presented in the exhibition.”
