Yesterday (Saturday), at a gas station in Eli, a Palestinian vehicle collided with an empty police patrol car. The incident ended without any injuries. Police and the IDF are investigating the event as a possible attempted ramming attack.

According to reports from the police and IDF, the driver, a 42-year-old man, was arrested and is currently under investigation. The police noted that the circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, as it occurred during an operational activity of traffic officers in the area. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

This incident follows a deadly attack at the same location approximately seven months ago, in which two Israelis, Yitzhak Zieger (57) and Uriah Hartum (16.5), were killed. In that event, a local hummus shop owner managed to neutralize the assailant, Mohammed Manasra, who had served in the Palestinian police and was released from an Israeli prison in 2019.

Hamda Hadi, a resident of Eli, shared her feelings in an interview with Ran Binyamini on Kan Reshet Bet: “It has never been so frightening; I am constantly checking the cars around me. What needs to be done is to make sure that Palestinians don’t drive here on the road. The Palestinians move around as if this place belongs to them. They should be the ones who are worried when they drive on the road—not the other way around.”

The security situation in the Judea and Samaria region is particularly challenging these days. Security forces continue to investigate the incident and assess the overall security situation in the area.
