Following the overthrow of the Assad regime by Syrian rebels last week and a rapid operation during which the IDF destroyed most of the Syrian army’s military capabilities, a Syrian rebel representative stated that the new regime in Syria is aiming to establish a “new state” and that there is potential to restore relations with Israel. This information was shared by a rebel source in a report to N12. The plans include dismantling terrorist militias, reforming Syria’s constitution, and rebuilding regional and international relations.
“We Have No Hostility Toward Israel – Opportunity to Restore Relations with Our Neighbor”
The representative emphasized that the rebels’ intentions do not include entering into conflict with Israel. “We are not entering a conflict with Israel, and we have no hostility toward it. There is an opportunity to restore relations with Israel, a neighboring country that shares a border with us.”
The representative also made it clear that the new regime will not cooperate with Iran. “From now on, we will not accept any Iranian military presence on Syrian soil. The new government will confiscate weapons from the former criminal regime, dismantle all armed militias and groups associated with terrorism, and subsequently amend the previous constitution.”

Another Syrian rebel representative added: “We aim to build stable and peaceful relations with all regional and international powers. Above all, we are focusing all our capabilities on recovering and escaping the effects of the devastating war we endured under the Assad regime, Russia, and Iran for 13 years. Israel’s actions cannot come at the expense of Syrian sovereignty or damage it.”
Al-Julani: “Syria Is Exhausted and Cannot Enter Conflict with Israel”
Similar sentiments were expressed yesterday by Abu Mohammad al-Julani, leader of the Syrian rebels. “We are not entering into conflict with Israel,” he said. He argued, “Israel uses the Iranian presence as an excuse to invade Syria. Once the Iranians leave, there will be no justification for foreign interference in Syria.”
He explained that Syria is in no condition to engage in another conflict: “The people are exhausted from the war, the country is unprepared, and it will not enter into another one. The state is moving toward development and reconstruction, progressing toward stability.”
