The IDF Confirms: Forces Crossed the Border into Lebanon

For the first time since the Second Lebanon War in 2006, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) has confirmed that ground forces crossed the border into Lebanon in a significant military operation. The operation, which began last night (Monday), marks a new phase in the military campaign along the northern border.

Fighters from the 98th Division, including the Commando Brigade, Paratroopers, and armored forces from the 7th Brigade, have been preparing for weeks for this mission. These forces, who have gained significant operational experience during the months of fighting in the Gaza Strip, underwent special training and adjustments for the combat theater in Lebanon.

The commander of the Egoz Unit, Lt. Col. A., emphasized the historical importance of the operation: “We have a great privilege to make history, as we did in Gaza, to do it here in the north as well.” He added that the main goal is “to return the northern residents to their homes safely,” while noting that this is the first time since 2006 that Israeli forces have maneuvered on Lebanese soil.

The ground operation comes after months of rising tensions on the northern border, including exchanges of fire and rocket attacks by Hezbollah. The IDF stresses that the move is aimed at pushing the terror threat away from the border and ensuring the safety of northern residents.

While exact details regarding the scale of the operation and its specific objectives have not yet been revealed, it is clear that this is a significant step in the region’s security situation. Military officials note that the forces underwent extensive preparation, including specialized training and the approval of detailed operational plans.

This development raises questions about the regional and international implications of the operation and the anticipated response from Hezbollah and its allies. Meanwhile, northern residents are urged to follow Home Front Command’s instructions and remain near protected spaces.

The IDF clarifies that it will continue to act decisively to protect Israeli citizens and push terror threats away from the country’s borders while maintaining high readiness in all theaters.
