Half a year after releasing the song The Road Is Long — which he wrote and composed — singer and creator Aviv Alush released a new single this morning (Monday) titled Upside-Down World. The single is part of his debut album, which is expected to be released soon.
Upon releasing the song, Alush shared an explanation about its meaning. He wrote: “I first encountered the concept of an ‘upside-down world’ in the Talmud, which tells the story of an Amora who experienced a near-death experience. Upon his return, his father asked him, ‘What did you see there?’ He replied, ‘I saw an upside-down world.’ His father answered him: ‘You didn’t see an upside-down world; you saw a clear world.’”
In recent years, Alush has been rediscovering his spiritual path and undergoing a process of returning to religious observance. “In my journey over the past few years, alongside success and fame, I’ve seen how honor and admiration present a significant obstacle for a person,” Alush wrote. He explained that the song Upside-Down World points to screens as a barrier covering human eyes and preventing us from seeing goodness and truth.

In the accompanying music video, Alush portrays the virtual world as one that draws people in until they become a captive audience. He urges viewers to stop and ask themselves: “Even if we cannot fight against screens and technology, we can use them to influence and create as much good as possible.”

Lyrics and composition: Avraham Aviv Alush
How did you not tell everyone that the world is upside-down?
Facing all the screens that cover and create confusion,
Man remains sedated, day and night.
How will we discover the truth in an edited world?
Even when the light turns on, someone else will call it dark,
And man remains sedated, day and night.
But I don’t forget that at the end of the road, only good awaits.
Rise, human, the light is shining, and you’ll see how everything far becomes near.
How did you not tell everyone that the world is upside-down?
How did you not descend on a cloud to bring purification?
Because man remains sedated all night long.
A world chasing emptiness without slowing down.
Blessed is the man who awakens and cleans the dirt,
Because man remains sedated, day and night.
But I don’t forget that at the end of the road, only good awaits.
Rise, human, the light is shining, and you’ll see how everything far becomes near.
Human, why are you asleep?
Rise, call upon your God.
How did you not tell everyone that the world is upside-down?
