During the “Revolution Orchestra” event held last Friday afternoon at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, which featured a screening of the film Kazablan accompanied by a live orchestra, singer Yehoram Gaon, who stars in the film, surprised the audience. He emerged from backstage moments before the conclusion to perform his iconic hit, Kol HaKavod (All the Respect).
Gaon had intended to congratulate the orchestra’s artistic directors on their winning the Rosenblum Award for Performing Arts. However, as soon as he finished the song, the orchestra began playing Happy Birthday in honor of the veteran singer’s 85th birthday. Gaon remarked, “It was wonderful and amazing to share this incredible moment with you.” The audience joined in the singing, and the orchestra did not forgo showing the film’s closing credits, this time accompanied by a live rendition of Kol HaKavod performed on stage instead of from the screen.

A month after the outbreak of the war, Gaon visited soldiers to lift their spirits. In an emotional moment, he performed the song The Last War over the communication system—a song he had performed in a similar setting 50 years earlier during the Yom Kippur War. Later, at the request of the IDF Education Corps, Gaon released a new version of You Will Not Defeat Me, recorded with the military bands. This rendition reached the seventh spot on Media Forest’s weekly chart and 34th on Mako’s Hitlist chart.
