In an exciting ceremony that took place yesterday (Sunday) in the Bedouin settlement of Shabli Umm Aljanam in the north, a new monument was inaugurated in memory of the settlement’s soldiers.

In addition to the dedication of the monument, the ceremony also included a flag raising event. Minister of the Negev and the Galilee, Yitzhak Waserlauf was honored by waving the flag to the sounds of the national anthem and also spoke in memory of the martyrs:

“Something we learned from the seventh of October is that our ability to win the campaign depends on our unity, our resilience. The more we act and become more united, the more we will defeat the enemy on the battlefield. When we remember the spirit of the warriors, with that spirit we step forward and choose to recognize and cherish and pass on the legacy of the battle and our heroism for future generations, the common destiny of our lives and the national resilience. I am happy and proud of you. There is so much pain and despair these days, and when I see you, there is hope, for unity, for the people and for the country.”
