“There Will Be an Escalation in Israeli Strikes”
This morning (Thursday), Ynet reported that a substantial strike in Yemen is being discussed with the Americans as part of the fight against the Houthis, who have yet to be deterred. The understanding in Israel is that another retaliatory strike in response to Houthi fire won’t resolve the issue, prompting a shift in strategy. According to the report, Israel estimates that a serious operation in Yemen could be executed only after the Trump administration assumes office on January 20.

Security officials have stated that the Houthis will pay a heavy price for their actions. “There will be an escalation in Israeli strikes. However, this is minor compared to what will happen to them once the Trump administration takes office. The Americans are preparing to impose a full embargo and severe sanctions on them.”

Netanyahu: “The Houthis Will Learn What Hamas, Hezbollah, and Assad Have Learned”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lit the first Hanukkah candle last night with senior officials and staff at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. Joining the ceremony were Orna and Ronen Natoura, the parents of Capt. Omer Natoura, a fallen tank officer killed in combat near Gaza on October 7, whose body was abducted by Hamas. The couple had met with the Prime Minister earlier that day.

After the candle-lighting, Netanyahu said: “We are lighting the first Hanukkah candle to mark the victory of the Maccabees of the past and the ‘Maccabees of today.’ Just as in the past, we are striking those who thought they could sever our lifeline here. This applies to everyone. The Houthis will also learn what Hamas, Hezbollah, the Assad regime, and others have learned. Even if it takes time, this lesson will resonate across the Middle East. I tell you, ‘In those days, at this time.'”
