While most supermarket chains have decided to adjust their prices following the VAT increase, Carrefour is taking a significant consumer-friendly step today (Thursday).
Carrefour has decided to absorb the VAT increase on all private-label products, including food, pharmaceuticals, toiletries, and cleaning supplies, as well as fresh products in the butcher and fish sections, as reported this morning on “Kan Reshet Bet.” This decision comes amidst the votes on the national budget for 2025 and as part of the chain’s expansion strategy in Israel.

Osher Ad has not yet adjusted its prices and is also absorbing the VAT increase at this stage, although industry sources speculate this may be a temporary decision. This move follows Good Pharm’s announcement last week, which was the first to declare that it would absorb the VAT increase.
Only time will tell if this trend will continue in the long run. In the meantime, we can enjoy lower prices at these three chains.
Carrefour Israel CEO, Michael Luboshitz, commented: “We decided to absorb the VAT increase on the most important products for the Israeli household out of a desire to accommodate our customer base.”
