Victims of the Allenby Crossing Attack: Shachori, Birnbaum, and Podsemsky

In the attack this morning (Sunday) at the Allenby Crossing, three people were killed: Yohanan Shachori, Yuri Birnbaum, and Adrian Marcelo Podsemsky. May their memories be a blessing. The shooter was neutralized.

In the shooting attack that took place this morning (Sunday) at the Allenby Crossing in the Jordan Valley and Emek HaMaayanot Brigade, an IDF spokesperson reported: “A terrorist arrived from Jordan with a truck toward the Allenby Crossing, exited the truck, and opened fire at the forces securing the crossing. The terrorist was neutralized by security forces.”

A Jordanian security source told Al Arabiya that the attacker was a Jordanian truck driver named Maher Jazi.

Three men were critically injured in the attack, and after resuscitation efforts, they were pronounced dead. The names of the victims have been released:

Shachori, a resident of Ma’ale Ephraim for about 30 years, was married and a father of six. He had been a member of the council since 2013 and worked as a cargo terminal manager. Shachori volunteered for many years with the civil guard, and after the outbreak of war on October 7, he was called up to the emergency response team. The local council of Ma’ale Ephraim stated that Shachori completed every task with dedication and commitment to the security of the residents, adding, “We mourn the murder of our dear friend and share in the great grief of the family.”

Yuri Birnbaum, 65, was a resident of Naama in the Jordan Valley. Birnbaum, a father of three, immigrated to Israel in the 1990s and worked as a forklift operator at the Allenby Crossing.

Adrian Marcelo Podsemsky

Adrian Marcelo Podsemsky, a resident of Ariel, was the third victim whose name was released. He will be laid to rest tomorrow (Monday) at 4:00 PM at the cemetery in Ariel.

Yotam Tzur, an MDA emergency medical technician who was present at the scene, said: “It was a very severe incident. We saw three men lying unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing, suffering from gunshot wounds. Together with the IDF medical team, we performed resuscitation efforts, but unfortunately, we had to pronounce them dead at the scene.”
