With 706 Lone Soldiers: The November-December 2024 Draft Begins

In the coming weeks, thousands of recruits are expected to report to draft offices across the country. Recruitment data reveals that 1,041 of the new recruits are new immigrants.

During this challenging period of the ongoing war, the November-December 2024 recruitment cycle for new combat soldiers has officially begun. In the coming weeks, thousands of men and women designated for significant combat roles in field units are expected to report to draft offices nationwide.

The recruitment plans were designed to meet the military’s needs, aiming to maintain continuous operational readiness while strengthening combat capabilities in various sectors and fulfilling the IDF’s critical missions. According to the IDF, “Training bases have been thoroughly prepared to receive and train the new recruits. The Meitav Recruitment Unit is operating with sensitivity and support to assist recruits who require additional care, providing personal guidance and assistance.”

Key Recruitment Data in Numbers:
– Gender Distribution: 59.79% men and 40.21% women.
– Age Range: The youngest recruit is 17.88 years old, and the oldest is 29.78, with an average age of 18.95.
– New Immigrants: 1,041 new immigrants are enlisting, including 638 men and 403 women.
– Lone Soldiers: 706 lone soldiers are joining, comprising 404 men and 302 women.

Many recruits come from countries like the United States, Russia, and Ukraine, along with new immigrants from more distant countries such as Barbados, Tajikistan, Nigeria, and Vietnam. Notably, 11.35% of the recruits come from preparatory programs and national service programs, demonstrating their significant contribution to the draft.

The recruitment takes place at no fewer than five draft offices nationwide, with the main offices being Tel Hashomer (38.54%), Haifa (19.34%), and Jerusalem (17.94%).

Regarding the equipment for new recruits, the IDF stated: “The IDF’s Logistics and Technology Directorate has prepared to supply new recruits with tens of thousands of uniforms, berets, and boots, along with kits for each recruit (including sewing kits, shoe care kits, and more). Special provisions are also being made for vegan and vegetarian recruits, with dedicated berets and boots available for those who request them. The new recruits will also receive winter gear, including softshell jackets, neck warmers, and gloves.”
