MDA volunteers from the Dan area held a special meeting today (Monday) with 35 children between the ages of five and eleven from Kibbutz Ra’im, who were evacuated to Tel Aviv following the events of October 7. The meeting, designed to familiarize the children with MDA’s activities, included a tour inside the ambulance, seeing the medical equipment and instruments, and an exciting meeting with the organization’s volunteers.
The initiative for this day came from Ofer Estlin, a native of Kibbutz Ra’im who currently volunteers at the MDA station in Ramat Gan. Ofer explained to the children about MDA’s activities in general and her personal volunteering. During the meeting, Ofer demonstrated to them how she uses the medical devices, such as a defibrillator, a monitor and a blood pressure monitor.
At the end of the meeting, the children received a gift from MDA that included a vest and a hat to be used for their Purim costume, along with a bag with a key chain, phone case, notebook, pen and educational coloring books.

Avihai Tauri, chairman of the MDA volunteers in Ramat Gan, was moved by the meeting and said: “We came to make the children happy who wanted so much to see what an ambulance is and to get to know the MDA people. We explained to them about our work, the ambulance and the medical devices we have. We answered all their questions and left this day smiling just like the children.”
The special day ended with a great feeling of satisfaction, when the children returned to their homes with new knowledge and unforgettable experiences, and thus the MDA volunteers were able to give them moments of joy and inspiration in the complex reality in which they find themselves.
